A couple of days ago Capcom announced their latest version of Monster Hunter for the iPhone, this new installment is called Dynamic Hunting. Some of you may remember that we first learned of this by Famitsu, the Japanese gaming magazine had assumed that the game app would not land until June 2011. The good news is the game will be released early, and will be launched to the world at the same time.
There are those of us who are unfamiliar with the Monster Hunter franchise, as it has been more for the Japanese market. This is considered to be a kind of Farmville or Mafia Wars in a way, as workers in the country would often take time out at work just to get some gaming in. However, what makes this franchise different is that it is a co-op multiplayer quest; so you will be hunting online for monsters with other players.
As you would imagine the iPhone version will not have nowhere near as much to offer, but it still has all the basics. The developer has made things a little simpler so that it works on a small touchscreen device. Controls are easy to use, as all you need to do is tap the screen to attack and use multiple gestures in order to block and also dodge your opponent.
Capcom-unity makes a point of letting us know that this iPhone version of Monster Hunter Dynamic Hunter is a single player, so no chance of getting help – its just you and your phone. We are still unsure if the game will make a perfect transition to an app, but we can be sure than fans of the franchise will be the first to speak out and let us know just how they feel.
Once the game is made available next month on the App Store we would love to know what your thoughts are, and if Capcom has done the franchise justice?
